BRASILIA OF THE NORTH

I decided to focus on providing a Marine Engineering and Boat Building Centre for Newcastle College students because of the extensive maritime history of shipbuilding on the River Tyne. Key to this design is the pushing of site boundaries to be able to build levering boat docks on the river as well as maintaining the pre-existing Hadrian's Wall Pathway on the ground level. Public and private areas are clearly distinguished through contrasting building forms of a 'bridge' and a 'block' respectively.
